Sample panOpen FAQs:
panOpen Education is a learning platform and services company for educational publishers. At a time of increasing consolidation in the marketplace, panOpen Education helps publishers remain independent by delivering their content through a white label platform that can increase sell-through rates of current adoptions, expand opportunities for new adoptions, future-proof their learning platforms, and dramatically lower IT budgets. The platform is branded as the publisher’s own while panOpen Education provides ongoing backend support, from pre-production ingestion of content, through to onboarding and training of faculty, and customer support for all users.
panOpen’s tools emphasize publisher and faculty content control and flexibility. Beyond most text formats, we also support audio and video content, flashcards, simulations, slide presentations, dozens of auto-graded assessment and activity types, and other types of third party applet integrations.
We currently integrate with Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, and Moodle. Each one has a specific process to set an LTI and/or API integration that allows the use of Single Sign-on links, grade sync, and deep linking.
Only students require a paid license to use the learning platform. Codes for these licenses can be purchased directly from the white label publisher instance of panOpen, from the college bookstore (for use, for example, with financial aid), and as part of most Inclusive Access programs. Codes can also be purchased by the publisher partner on an annual basis.
Students have perpetual access to the course materials for each purchase, unless the publishing partner prefers to limit this access.
The standard means of access to panOpen is through the institution’s LMS, using single sign-on. Faculty and students use their LMS credentials to access the LMS course shell and this allows them access to panOpen. Faculty and students can also directly access the publisher branded site with panOpen-created credentials.
panOpen’s platform is device-responsive, meaning that the web browser-based tool automatically adjusts to the screen size of the device that is being used, whether a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
AWhile there is currently not a native application, panOpen can be accessed through any web browser on desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.

Yes! Beyond the publisher partners’ own content, we make available a rich catalog of fully interactive open content that can serve as a supplement to the publisher’s own, which you can provide to your customers to generate incremental revenue on open source materials because panOpen has added assessments and put the materials into our innovative platform. We can also facilitate the importation of various other kinds of content to support the publisher’s classroom success.
